Member Information

Welcome to The Lakeland Bassmasters the largest Federated Club in The World.  Our club offers unique opportunities for the experienced angler and those new to tournament bass fishing. Members have the opportunity to fish with and against some of the most experienced anglers in Central Florida. For those new to the sport, you will rapidly gain knowledge on all facets of bass fishing by fishing with the best.

Our Purpose:  To stimulate public awareness of bass fishing as a major sport. To offer our state conservation department our organized moral and political support and encouragement. To promote full adherence to all conservation codes and to demand adequate water standards. To detect and report any polluter and call public and political attention to this crime. To improve our skills as bass anglers through a fellowship of friendly exchange of expert bass-catching techniques and ideas, and to promote and encourage youth fishing, and a love for this great recreation. To function as a dynamic and effective link with other chapters of the Florida B.A.S.S. Federation Nation, embracing the principles and purposes of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.

Joining our Club:  All prospective members must be at least 18 years old and a member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS) prior to joining our club.  An individual’s BASS membership is each member’s individual responsibility to keep current.   Proof of membership in BASS (member #) is required upon joining the club.  Further annual dues are required for the Lakeland Bassmasters ($20.00); the National BASS Nation ($30.00); and the Florida BASS Nation ($15.00) for a total of $65.00.  The $65.00 can be paid when you attend and join at one of our monthly meetings. This enables members to fish in BASS sponsored events at the National and State levels. This $65.00 is in addition to the individual’s BASS membership.

The Club meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Elks Lodge in Lakeland FL, located at 4529 Harden Blvd.  Meetings start at 7PM. Attendance at meetings is not mandatory but will assist members in keeping current on Club activities and enable them to participate in activities.

At each Club meeting there will be an update on important Club issues. There will also be a raffle of valuable door prizes including baits, gift certificates, rods and reels. Tickets purchased at this meeting will be credited toward tickets at the annual banquet where many valuable prizes are available. (See notes on Raffle). Education Programs are scheduled for no-draw night meetings.

Tournaments:  The Lakeland Bassmasters sponsors ten (10) tournaments from January to October and a Classic in November. In order for an angler to be eligible for the Classic, he or she must have fished at least eight (8) tournaments or be in the top 20 in the Club and have fished at least six (6) tournaments.  All our tournaments use a draw format wherein Boaters are paired with Co-anglers on a random basis. It is customary for new inductees to fish with their sponsoring member for their first tournament.  Tournaments are held on a group of six lakes in or near Polk County. Tournaments commence at first light with weigh-ins at 3 PM.  All tournaments are on Sunday except for our 2 day tournaments which then include Saturday as well.  We normally have 2 or 3 two day tournaments each year.

The cost for a one-day tournament is $35; a two day tournament is $45.0. From each tournament the Club will withhold: $4.00 to banquet fund; $8.00 to classic fund; $1.00 for the ladies prizes at the banquet. An optional big bass pot fee of $5.00 per day is also available for those members who wish to participate; and an optional team pot at a cost of $5.00 per member.

All entry fees due must be paid prior to take-off on tournament morning.  If a participant cannot fish a tournament for which an entry fee has been paid the entry fee may be carried over for only one tournament, provided Tournament Committee or Board Member is notified 12 hours in advance.

Payback is based on the number of entrants. Payback averages 75% of tournament fees with the balance being withheld for the year end banquet activities. Prize money will be paid one place for each ten participants. Rankings during the year are accumulated based on placement in each tournament. The angler with the highest point total is declared Angle of The Year. Awards will also be given to Co-anglers based on standings.

Boat owner will be granted first choice.

Meeting Raffles:  A raffle of valuable door prizes will be held at each meeting. Tickets purchased at the meetings will earn credit for tickets for the Annual Banquet Draw.
